What does it mean that I am made in His image? How does that benefit my life? Are you someone that doesn’t know who they are anymore? Maybe you are someone that was never taught who you are in Christ, your destiny. This message is for you. When God created the earth, He created man also (Genesis 1). Genesis 1:27-28 says, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to our likeness, and let them rule over… all the earth.” Everybody is made in God’s image, not just a few people that have religious titles. Declare this for your life, ‘Since I am made like Him, I can be like Him. Since I can be like Him, I can think like Him. Since I can think like Him, I can act like Him.’
You can be like God even though you don’t think you can. You can’t think you’ve sinned too much. That does not disqualify you. God sent Jesus to die for all sin. He died once for all. That means He only had to die one time (not repeatedly) for everybody’s sin in the past and sin’s still yet to come (Hebrews 9:26; Ephesians 6:10). God knew that you were on the way and that you would sin. But Jesus bore your sin so you could conform into His image (Romans 8:29; 1 Peter 2:21-24). Now that God has removed sin out of the way, you can be like Him. All you have to do is believe that Jesus died for all your sins (past and future), and you can be like God again the way He created you (1 John 2:1).
You can think like Him. All the terrible thoughts you have throughout your life isn’t a sign that you just weren’t destined to be like Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16 says, “…for we have the mind of Christ.” That is a promise. You can choose to think like Him or not. It is up to you. Just look at your decisions. Your actions are a product of what you think about. How can you think like Him? Keep your mind set on Him, He will never lead you astray (Colossians 3:2; Hebrews 13:5). How do you learn what Jesus thinks? Reading and studying the Word of God. Once you declared Jesus is Lord of your life, and you believe that He is the Son of God that came to die for you, you can act like Him now, because He is in you (Philippians 2:13). You have the Holy Spirit now. His voice will tell you everything that God says (John 16:13). So stop doubting that you can’t think like Him. He destined you to (Ephesians 1:11). Start breaking through all the obstacles that cloud your rightful thinking today by renewing your mind with the word of God (Romans 12:2).
Jesus took care of the sin problem. Now you are just like Him. You can act like Him and think like Him. Your identity is in Him, it was your destiny. Jesus calls you His friend now (John 15:15). God did not create us in any other image but HIS!
